We received our Mission Call on December 8th. We have been called to serve in the Ohio Cleveland Mission to serve as CES specialists in the Akron area. We will be reporting to the MTC on February 20th.
We anticipated that we would be teaching and spending our days in the Institute building. But since then, we have each received a call from Karl Anderson, who is the CES coordinator there. He explained to us that there is not an institute building there, that we would be teaching 4 classes a week; one on the Kent State campus, one on the Akron University campus, one in the Stake Center in Akron and one in Wooster which is a town about 50 miles away from Akron. It looks like we are going to be travelling a bit. We will be attending the Young Adult Branch there and will also be involved in helping to plan activities. There are some historic sites in our mission - the Kirtland Temple, the John Johnson farm and the Newell K. Whitney store.
We have also received a call from the Wheelers, the couple we will be replacing. They filled us in on a lot of other things we were wondering about. We will be living outside of Akron in a town called Stow. We will be taking over the apartment that they are living in now. The complex is called Heron Springs Apartments. We were able to look it up on the internet and even check out the floor plan. We will have a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. Sister Wheeler said that this mission is the Rolls Royce of all missions. They love working with the Young Adults. We are really looking forward to serving with them as well. We will have some time after we get there for the Wheelers to fill us in on everything.
We are excited to go - we are down to about 3 weeks.
